If there’s one thing we know about Hedi Slimane, it’s that he’s painfully cool. So, when you close your eyes and picture what the former Saint Laurent designer-turned-photographer would do for his birthday, I image it would look something like this: a beautiful location filled with even more beautiful people, and a bunch of booze. And if the photos from his 50th birthday party are any indication, it seems that that’s exactly right.

As Hedi gears up to take the reigns at Celine this fall, his friends decided to throw him a cowboy-themed surprise party in honor of his birthday. Models like Gracie Hartzel and Helena Severin danced to French band La Femme at Paris’ Le Palace and of course, Hedi documented the whole thing with black-and-white photos.
