Tyra Banks Is Opening Her Own Model-Themed Attraction
Mogul, but make it fashion.
Tyra Banks is a MOGUL, remember? She said it enough times on every season of America’s Next Top Model. Of course, that means she’s always starring in new movies (like Life Size 2), leaving and returning to ANTM, hosting a talk show, and so forth. Now, she’s opening a theme park, too.
Yeah, you read that correctly. Well, sort of. Modelland, which is set to open this year in Santa Monica, California, will feature shopping and dining options open to the public, as part of her goal of bringing modelling to the whole world.
“I’ve always been insanely inspired by attractions like Disneyland and Universal Studios and have wanted to bring that spirit of adventure and storytelling to the world of modelling,” she told Variety. “But not the exclusive modelling industry. I’m talking about modelling for the masses.”
In the interview, she said she’s been working on Modelland for “ten very intense years.” In her words, it’ll be “a place where the modelling world meets fantasy, meets entertainment, meets technology, meets retail, meets dining, meets … your fiercest best self you could ever imagine.”
“Modelland is not just a place to us; It’s a movement,” she continued. “Yes, it’s an attraction and a destination, but above all, it’s the genesis for people with all types of different beauty to feel seen and validated. Modelland will empower them to embrace, celebrate and adorn their own unique beauty in ways they never thought possible.”
Sounds serious. But I guess that’s what it takes to be a business, brand, boss. ANTM forever.
