a little help from my friends
Susie Bubble, Gia Coppola and Coco Young lend a hand shooting the latest Araks lingerie lookbook.
For those who aren't aware, Araks Yeramyan is the designer behind those titillatingly sheer undies that framed Scarlett Johansson's perfect posterior in the opening scene of Sophia Coppola's Lost in Translation. The New York based talent, who studied at both Central St. Martins and Parsons, trained under the likes of Marc Jacobs and J. Crew before launching her eponymous label Araks in 2006. As if following the very pattern of getting dressed, Yeramyan's interest in design began with undergarments, which lead to swimwear, which in- turn evolved into completely wearable, feminine clothing.
Araks' dreamy Autumn 2011 lingerie lookbook is an innovative, collaborative effort featuring several of Yeramyan's friends and industry creatives; including model Coco Young, director Gia Coppola and blogger Susie Lau of Style Bubble, who were each sent a camera and their favourite two ensembles from the collection, then tasked with styling and photographing their own interpretation of the range.
With Yeramyan releasing the creative hold, we're left with something varied and dynamic. A combination of vastly different aesthetics could have been an incongruous disaster, but instead, it's romantic, whimsical and a little bit naked.
Which is always a good thing.
