Alexa Chung's Instagram Now Private After 'Thinspo' Accusations
Is Alexa Chung Too Skinny? Is it any of our business?
It’s not the reaction you’d expect from posting a picture of you and your Mum, but when Alexa Chung checked her Instagram yesterday, there was a whole lot of comparing the image to ‘thinspo.’
The model and TV host of 24 Hour Catwalk, fired back at followers who said things like “Ew she's so skinny it’s gross” and "you're legs look unhealthy" [sic] by saying, “Hi, I am here. I can read. Ok everyone thanks for the teen angst discussions. People are different sizes. I'm not trying to be thinspo for anyone [sic]. I am now making this acct private. Byyyyyeeee.” Both her Instagram and Twitter are now private.
A few months ago, the 28-year-old referred to previous incidents of fans trying stage interventions via online comments, telling OK! magazine, “I don't expect everyone to like me, but I cannot express how frustrating it is not to be believed when you say, 'I don't have an eating disorder.' ... It angers me because I don't want to be a pin-up for young girls just for being thin. I don't want to be admired for being thin, as opposed for being dressed well, and I don't want the two to get confused."
