Alexander Wang Is Being Sued Again

Another former employee claims they were exploited.

Another former employee is suing Alexander Wang. Last week we reported that a $50 million lawsuit had been filed against the label after it was found to be running an alleged sweatshop in Chinatown, New York. Thirty workers said they were forced to work in inhumane conditions, with 56-year-old Wenyu Lu claiming he fainted after working 25 hours without a break. Flor Duante, a 48-year-old single mother of three, has now also stepped forward, The New York Post reports. Flor claims she was forced to work in excess of 90 hours a week. Like Wenyu, she also says she was fired from the company after making workers compensation claims.

The Alexander Wang company denies the claims and will fight the lawsuit in court. When the first lawsuit came to light, a representative told WWD: "The company takes its obligations to comply with the law very seriously, including the relevant wage and hour regulations, the payment of overtime to eligible employees and having a safe working environment for all of our employees. We will vehemently defend any allegations to the contrary."

According to WWD, the first suit included nine charges each totaling claims of $50 million, equating to a $450 million lawsuit. Gawker went to the 386 Broadway factory, but they were not allowed access to where the garments were manufactured. "So is it true? Who knows," they say. "It really just depends on whether or not you hear a multimillion dollar fashion house's "no comment" as an, "I'm guilty.""
