Arnsdorf AW12 Lookbook
Time travel to 1979.
As well as being a song by The Smashing Pumpkins, 1979 is a year marked by Sid Vicious' death, Woody Allen's film Manhattan, and Sony launching the walkman (remember life before the iPod?). It's also the year that designer Jade Sarita Arnott was born, and serves as inspiration for Arndorf's AW12 collection and lookbook.
Many pieces in the collection have a seventies feel - dungarees, broderie anglaise tops, kimonos, loose smocks, patchwork skirts and cropped turtlenecks all reference a bygone era. It's all the kind of stuff you wish your mum had of kept and passed down to you. The earthy colour palette of mustard, terracotta and metallic copper is distinctly seventies, too. Some garments, such as the Streep pantsuit, the Birkin dress and the Dustin trouser, are even named after style icons from this decade past.
The lookbook was styled by Oyster's new contributing editor, Stevie Dance, and shot by Maya Villiger from Turned Out. Villiger used film, which is why the images have that authentic vintage, sun-drenched aesthetic. Model Ann Kelly, snapped hanging out on the streets of New York, exudes fashionable nonchalance. We love the choice of accessories, too - snakeskin boots and a pineapple!
