Bruna Kazinoti Shoots Sheriff & Cherry Eyewear in Croatia

An eyewear by Mark Vassallo and Mauro Massarotto.

Sherriff & Cherry is an eyewear label by Mark Vassallo and his partner Mauro Massarotto. Their new campaign was shot by Bruna Kazinoti (who also shot 'Salt Water' for our 100th issue) on the beautiful Croatian coastline.

For SS13, they referenced iconic eyewear shapes resulting in four frames, rejuvenated in a myriad of colours — 36, in fact! — including marshmallow pink, ruby red, and semi-transparent blues. We quizzed Mauro about the new collection, gelato and other summertime staples.

Lucy Jones: Can you tell us a bit about your project?

Mauro Massarotto: I started with the sunnies three years ago, almost exclusively for friends and family, and some fans on the way. When we felt ready with the collection we launched globally and the reaction was pretty good. We are giving a second birth to these classical shapes dating back from mid 60s to mid 80s and we are working with the original factory. It's an interesting environment and I feel very inspired. Of course we are giving this a twist: classical but modern, functional but fun. We want our sunnies to brighten peoples' lives and make the world a more colorful place!

Finish this sentence: A good pair of sunglasses should be like a…

Cherry on top!

What's the best and worst thing about working with your partner Mark Vassallo?
He keeps me organised and makes me work all day!

How do you feel about people who wear sunglasses indoors or after dark?
Sometimes it helps!

Describe your ideal summer day:
On a boat!

Poolside or beachside?
Beachside.

Sundaes or Slurpees?
Gelato!

If your sunglasses could talk what would they say?
"What a lovely day!"

Stay tuned for an upcoming collaboration between The Presets and Sheriff & Cherry!
