Claire Inc x The Corner Shop
Designer vintage threads, without the postage fees.
Online shopping is amazing. I've bought so much stuff online in the past month that when I get a parcel in the mail I don't know what to expect. As I excitedly exclaim to whoever is around when I rip into the brown packaging, it's as though all my Christmases and birthdays have come at once! One of my favourite sites to peruse, fill up online carts and generally waste time on is Claire Incorruptible. Belinda Humphris, director of Claire Incorruptible, stocks a carefully curated selection of designer vintage, with most pieces from the 80s and 90s. Think Chanel, Gaultier, Moschino, Mugler, Alaia, Comme des Garcons and Versace. In other words, super rare, super amazing stuff that you might find in an op-shop if you are extremely persistent, but probably won't, so do yourself a favour and leave the dirty work to someone else.
As of next Thursday July 25, Claire Incorruptible is taking up a two-week residency at The Corner Shop in The Strand. Which means Sydney-siders can get their mits on vintage clobber without having to tear through layers of packaging (and sticky-tape - seriously, why do so many online retailers feel the need to mummify boxes with the stuff?). You also won't have to worry about the downsides of online shopping - no postage fees and you'll be able to TRY STUFF ON so you can be sure that whatever it is that you spend a weeks pay cheque on won't turn out to be three sizes too small or a weird green colour. Pick up a Chanel blouse, a two piece floral bikini worn by Amber Valetta and Shalom Harlow in the 1996 campaign, or the high-waisted butterfly print Versace pants worn on the cover of Vogue, April 1995. There will also be Karl Lagerfeld necklaces, bracelets and brooches and a huge, bejeweled JPG crucifix. While you're at it, check out the stuff that our other favourite Belinda is peddling ? new season ETOILE by Isabel Marant, anyone?
