Club Silencio

David Lynch's new baby (don't worry, it's not a mutant one ala Eraserhead).

David Lynch is a lot of things: film auteur, quinoa enthusiast, meteorologist, man with artful mane. Now he's trying his hand at interior design, with a Mulholland Drive-inspired nightclub on the cards. Club Silenco is slated to open in September and will be located on the Rue Montmartre in Paris.

And what to expect? The reference point is the fictional Club Silencio - the late-night bordello haunt where Naomi Watts finds a blue box/key in her purse and Rebekah Del Rio makes everyone cry. There will be a mirrored dance floor, a 24-seat cinema, a cocooned sitting lounge and an art library. Lynch, in collaboration with Raphael Navot, has designed asymmetric leather lounges for the space and we're going to hazard a guess and say that red curtains and blue lights will grace the stage. No word yet as to whether the entertainment will include an in-house illusionist.

Renown for his surreal, hazy highway to nowhere films, Lynch has said to the to the New York Times, "I enjoy how architecture and design create mood." Design is a natural segue for Lynch (in fact, he's no stranger to it - he designed furniture for his 1996 film Lost Highway and his mid-century minimalist tables have been sold by Swiss company Casanostra) and we kind of hope he follows this venture up with a club inspired by The Black Lodge in Twin Peaks. If there's jazz music and little people on the D-floor (see below), we'd totally hang out there.
