Coachella Cruise Ship

With a lineup featuring Pulp, Hot Chip, Grimes and more!

All aboard the S.S. Coachella! The Californian music festival is going all cruise-ship on us, announcing today that they'll be heading out to sea. Not once but twice will the party ship make its way out into the wild blue yonder this December, to the Bahamas and Jamaica respectively. This is quite possibly the best idea anyone's ever had! Considering these guys brought Tupac back to life (via "hologram"), that's really saying something.

Gone are the days where cruises were strictly reserved for slot machines and semi-retirees from Florida; this cruise liner will play host to such acts as Pulp, Grimes (who we interviewed for Oyster #98) and Hot Chip (who we also recently spoke with).

If you're keen on the Bahamas, the cruise will head out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida on December 16 to 19, while the December 19 to 23 trip takes you to Jamaica. Prices start from $500 and go up to $9,000 for a super-special 'sky suite' with a veranda. Tickets go on sale on July 21 — that's in three days!

Perhaps they were inspired by the R. Kelly cruise, which we're hoping will be a little like this new video from the man himself (it features a two-minute musical cut into the middle of the clip for no reason whatsoever):
