coachella line-up announced
How exciting!
IT'S DURAN DURAN, YOU GUYS!
The line-up for Coachella 2011 just been announced. Pretty much everyone on the Internet will already be posting about this, so I've decided to combine the announcement with album-by-album reviews of some of the artists ? courtesy of Oyster's favourite musical Twitter account, Discographies.
Kanye West
? 1-3 "A great curator, convinced that he's created all the art in the museum..."; 4 "...might get depressed and try to prove it."
? 1-3 "I was a good student." 4 "But after graduation, I got depressed." 5 "All I did was surf the web and listen to Meat Loaf."
Bright Eyes
? 1-7 "I had a roommate who wouldn't quit reading me his shitty poetry, so I moved out. Sometimes I wonder what happened to him."
Duran Duran
? 1-5 The colorful plumage seen on video (long ago)... 6-12 "...grows dim in the light of a marquee promising: "80s Night!"
Kings Of Leon
? 1-2 "fierce energy" = loud and dull; 3-5 "greater artistic maturity" = each generation gets the Goo Goo Dolls it deserves.
Interpol
? 1 Find an old photo of Joy Division. 2 Xerox the photo. 3 Draw the Xerox. 4 Stare at the drawing: you'll never get Closer.
Animal Collective
? 1-4 "Upon dosing, subjects exhibited disorientation..." 5-7 "...gradually resolving into..." 8 "...clarity and euphoria."
The Arcade Fire
? 1-2 At last, the indie-rock "Riverdance"!; 3 has eight different covers--one for each person who still buys physical music.
The Strokes
? 1 "OMG! The greatest band of all time!!!"; 2 "It's not as good as the first..."; 3 "Hey, can we listen to the Arctic Monkeys?"
Also, nothing will ever top Hipster Runoff's take on the 2010 line-up announcement:
Serious question: which line-up would you be more excited about?
(PS Death From Above 1979 are reforming and Wikipedia hasn't been updated yet.)
