David Lynch Hosts an Evening with Chrysta Bell in LA

Tomorrow night!

Every great artist needs a muse, and for David Lynch, she takes the form of a long-time collaborator — the singer, songwriter and entertainer Chrysta Bell. For those of you lucky enough to be in LA tomorrow, David will be hosting an evening with the femme fatale herself. The musician has been working with the legendary director (and great artist in his own right) for the last ten years, writing and recording with him on the haunting soundtrack for his film Inland Empire, as well as on the smoldering singer's album This Train, which was released last September, to significant buzz.

For an introduction to the lady, check out this clip, featuring the Eiffel Tower, an incredible Mark Fast dress and lots of gold leaf:

Or the title track, (which is so Blue Velvet):

After co-writing songs, playing guitar and producing her album, David is now firmly entrenched in Chrysta's creative process, and judging from the footage of their working relationship, the two bounce ideas off each other with the kind of ease that reveals the extent of their conceptual parallels. It's no surprise that as a child, Chrysta loved watching Twin Peaks — the show's part-eerie, part-sexy soundtrack compelling the young singer. Chrysta herself is so Lynchian (aesthetically, and in vocal delievery and performance), that it's all too easy to see what Lynch sees in her. Lana Del who? Jks! But this lady is seriously fierce.
