Oyster contributor Rene Vaile shoots Jemma Baines for Dress Up's AW12 lookbook. Besides its name 'Industriale', you wouldn't guess that this collection is inspired by abandoned urban spaces and industrial constructions. Designer Stephanie Downey ever-so-subtly imbues these references into the garments. The use of silk crepe and silk wool reference the fragile remains of demolished buildings depicted in the 'Ruins of Detroit' photo series by Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre, while the primary colours are reminiscent of those seen in an industrial estate. A graphic print is adapted from Antonioni's sixties film Red Desert, which paints a picture of post WWII factories in Italy. It continues with corduroy, moleskin and practical outerwear all acting as nods to factory worker wear while pleating, scalloped hems and Peter Pan collars provide a girlish touch.
