Elliot Ward-Fear AW12 Lookbook
Elliot Ward-Fear is back!
Elliot Ward-Fear has been an elusive player in the designer circuit of late, sitting out last season completely. However, the winds of change have blown with some serious gusto and things are set to become a bit more exciting. The 23-year-old NSW TAFE graduate has just unveiled his AW12 collection titled 'Flame' - perhaps a way of coyly preempting the ignition of a vigorous and fiery fashion uproar?
Look to 'Flame' and you might be inclined to apply the term avant-garde, despite its over-used nature. Taking cues from the craftsmanship behind medieval battle armour, Chinese warriors and (we suspect) anime babe Sailor Moon and Superwoman, this collection demonstrates the designer's talent for tailoring and attention to meticulous detail that would ordinarly be reserved for designers far more senior.
The lookbook is a cosmic-themed conceptual project shot by regular collaborator Thom Kerr, starring New Zealand's Liv O'Driscoll. Note the gold lame accents, colour-blocked corsetry, and jutting, zig-zagging geometric lines. We are also fans of the immaculately tailored skirts, the surprising inclusion of exaggerated bell-bottoms and the flesh-coloured hoisery.
