Ex-Prisoners Make Chairs For Marni
And they are really, really cool.
Marni teams up with ex-prisoners from Colombia for a 100-piece chair collection. That’s right — the Italian fashion house designed the chairs and then enlisted some freed criminals to produce them, helping to reintegrate them into social and working life. Altruism, people.
The chairs are fashioned from metal and kaleidoscopic plastic netting, and they’re really, really cool. Treading the line between kitsch and futuristic, they're made in low-slung, rocking, love seat and oversized armrest style. Produced for this month’s Salone del Mobile (a furniture fair in Milan) the chairs are only available for purchase at the Milan Marni boutique.
If you can’t get to Milan, we’ve included some photos of the chairs you’ll never sit in.
