Exclusive Mix: Goodgod's 1st Birthday

Do you like R&B? (Who doesn't!)

Last Thursday I went to a press conference with Oyster favourite Sebastien Tellier. Well, we didn't go together — it was a press conference in his honour (if that is the correct terminology. I don't got to many press conferences). I took a few things away from the night, including the fact that Tellier's favourite food in Australia is a tie between Argentinian restaurant Porteno, and Hungry Jacks. The other piece of knowledge that Tellier imparted was that Goodgod is one of the best bars in Australia.

The good news is that Goodgod is celebrating its first birthday this weekend. That means a mini-festival filled with some of the Greatest Hits of Goodgod, including party tour-de-force Hoops, Oyster favourite Donny Benet, psych dance-jam band Holy Balm, Jingle Jangle and, excitingly, the return of the Goodgod House Band, presented by the Midnight Juggernauts' Daniel Stricker (coincidentally also a member of Sebastien Tellier's Australian tour band). The Goodgod House Band is only resurrected on very special occasions, and I highly recommend heading down if only to see a garage band covering Technotronic's 'Pump Up The Jam' (or, if you're lucky, you might catch the Juggernauts' tour manager playing the saxophone solo during a very special rendition of Guru Josh's 'Infinity').

In their own words, "The weekend's lineup has been carefully curated by GOODGOD's Jimmy Sing and Marty Doyle to represent the incredible talent that come together to make this Sydney venue as exciting and diverse a hub of activity as anywhere in the world." To celebrate, Levins —chef-man at The Dip (Goodgod's restaurant, where Oyster have enjoyed many a hot dog) and co-host of R&B night Love Kings with Radge, has created an exclusive mix for Oyster readers. Head here to download, and enjoy! Love Kings will be bringing the Front Bar across the finish line in style on the Sunday night of the birthday festival.

Tickets on sale now via Moshtix.
