Exclusive: Moonbase Commander Mixtape

A 20-year-old producer from Sydney who we fell in love with on the radio.

On Wednesday, as I was driving to work, I heard a song on FBi. It was made up of Beach Boys samples layered over a simple beat. It was a song called 'Peace, Love & Happiness from Boston, Massachusetts' by Moonbase Commander and it was incredible.

When I got to work I sent it to a couple of other people, who purely by chance had heard it on the radio at the same time and had been similarly blown away. I looked the artist up and sent him an email, and within 12 hours he'd put together an exclusive mix for us. Isn't that a nice story? Here are ten Moonbase Commander facts that he sent us:

1. My name is Nick Luke, otherwise known as Moonbase Commander.
2. I'm 20 years old.
3. I'm from Sydney.
4. Yes, I make electronic music.
5. No, I will not play your request.
6. I don't use decks or laptops when I play live.
7. I've played with Blood Orange, Sun Araw, The Aston Shuffle, Yacht Club DJs, (going to be playing with) Expensive Looks, et ceteraaaa.
8. I like cats, pizza, Adventure Time and Twin Peaks.
9. I like to cook (#based).
10. My debut EP Flare Gun will be coming out soon.

Here's his mix, including two exclusive tracks from his forthcoming EP: 'Smokescreen' and 'Cave Dungeon' alongside everything from Ludacris to San Francisco soul legend (and alleged pimp) Darondo.

Tracklist:

Moonbase Commander - 'POW Block' (from upcoming Flare Gun EP)
Ludacris - 'What's Your Fantasy'
Baauer - 'Harlem Shake'
