Exclusive: Something Else x Maya Villiger

Designer Natalie Wood teams up with the Turned Out blogger on a virtual lookbook.

This has to be one of the best collaborations so far this year, and will surely set a high standard for months to come. Local label Something Else, helmed by Natalie Wood, has teamed up with LA-based Oyster contributor and talented Turned Out blogger Maya Villiger on a virtual lookbook for Something Else's Winter 2012 collection.

The collection, called 'Metamorphosis' and arriving in-store this week, is centered around physical and mental transformations, taking the butterfly as its symbol. There's a focus on intricacy, delicacy and adornment, with a garden metaphor extending to floral prints and a palette of leafy greens and pollen yellow. Expect to see Something Else signatures like knitwear and shirting with cut-out detailing, along with a play on different lengths and layering. Following on from Wood's tradition of teaming up with artists, this time patterns are drawn from the work of Georgina Cullum and George Barnes. A favourite piece includes the bug-embellished silk bomber jacket, where it is safe to say need is an understatement.

In the virtual lookbook, Wood and Villiger's creative inklings are harmonious, with the latter's cut and paste collage aesthetic perfectly complimenting the designer's vision. With a lo fi leaning, the virtual lookbook is like a dreamy diary in motion. We fell in love with the video, and we think you might too:
