Ezra Miller Comes Out

And Yeasayer wants us all to "gay it up a little".

The elusive Ezra Miller (of We Need to Talk About Kevin fame), has just come out. He covers the September issue of Out magazine, and in the interview he draws parallels between his latest role, Patrick, an out-and-proud high school student in upcoming film The Perks of Being A Wallflower, and his own adolescent experiences.

Like Frank Ocean during his recent coming out, Ezra waxes lyrical on his sexuality proving Incredibly Articulate about Feelings and Emotions for a 19-year-old boy. "I'm queer. I have a lot of really wonderful friends who are of very different sexes and genders. I am very much in love with no one in particular," he says.

"I've been trying to figure out relationships, you know? I don't know if it's responsible for kids of my age to be so aggressively pursuing monogamous binds, because I don't think we're ready for them. The romanticism within our culture dictates that that's what you're supposed to be looking for. Then [when] we find what we think is love — even if it is love — we do not yet have the tools. I do feel that it's possible to be at this age unintentionally hurtful, just by being irresponsible — which is fine. I'm super down with being irresponsible. I'm just trying to make sure my lack of responsibility no longer hurts people. That's where I'm at in the boyfriend/girlfriend/zefriend type of question."

Ezra also recalls trying to kiss boys in school, reciting a bittersweet story of hooking up with his best friend at the time. He says the friend later "had some macho realisation that led him to believe that I was the problem," — much like Frank's story of young love, how his male partner as a teenager "wouldn't admit the same".

When we spoke with Ezra and his band Sons of an Illustrious Father earlier this year, we asked him about the inundation of teen-girl fansites created in his dedication. "I don't want to talk about it," he said. "I feel very uncomfortable [laughs]. I'm scared."

Queer, straight, gay, it doesn't change the fact that he is AWESOME and a REAL LIFE ELF PRINCE.

And on Frank Ocean, in a recent interview with Rolling Stone Yeasayer frontman Chris Keating describes the Odd Future member as "a good new face for the R&B world to kind of usher out — no pun intended — some of these folks." Chris also says that despite him liking R. Kelly's music, "he's a terrible piece of shit, a horrible person, really bad all around. Let's get rid of him. Let's gay it up a little [in R&B]." Forget R&B, let's gay it up a little in life!
