Givenchy Pre-Fall 2013 Lookbook
Cow print, capes, thigh-split skirts and pool slides.
If the opportunity arose for me to hand-feed Riccardo Tisci peeled grapes I would do it — he is just that great. Cow print usually reminds me of people who use the word "funky" and think Curlz is an aesthetically sound font, however Givenchy has turned this on its head and made this animal hide highly desirable in their most recent collection.
For Pre-Fall 2013, the French fashion house has seemingly used their own menswear collections as a foundation, and as such there's a 'chic butch' thing happening with man-style shoes, no-nonsense beige knitwear, slim trousers and all-in-one kilt-and-pants combos (thanks be to Kanye).
Ruffled dresses and skirts are feminine but not fussy, and according to Riccardo the evening dress of the season is actually an androgyny-infused tuxedo jacket pared with a thigh-split skirt (Rose McGowan c. 1997 eat your heart out). Always accountable for executing expert prints, Pre-Fall sees an abstracted almost-camo print.
Like in the last few lookbooks, Givenchy Pre-Fall 2013 also takes the street as its setting — bloggers beware. See it above, and start lusting after some #highfash pool slide sandals now.
