Grammys 2012: The Highlights
Adele makes the Grammys her bitch. Meanwhile, Skrillex secures dubstep's place in history.
And in music news, Adele makes the Grammys her bitch. LL Cool J opened the ceremony, held Sunday in LA, with a prayer for Whitney Houston, who died yesterday in her Beverly Hilton hotel room. Tributes to the singer were plentiful, with Jennifer Hudson performing 'I Will Always Love You', the Dolly Parton song made legendary by Houston.
Also, Bon Iver's Justin Vernon wins Best New Artist despite not really being all that new; Amy Winehouse wins posthumously for her duet with Tony Bennett; and dubstep reigns supreme with Skrillex winning thrice.
Kanye West was sadly absent from the proceedings, presumably sulking at home over his measly seven nominations (in the end he won five, including best rap album for My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy). Jay-Z and Beyonce also stayed home, whereas they were probably just being responsible parents.
