guest playlist: canyons

Or, a ten-step guide to getting laid.

Do you have a third head, a love for awesome music and a stash of booze that's just begging to be guzzled inside a secret inner city warehouse? Well, we have just the event for you! This Saturday, Picnic are continuing a string of remarkably successful One Night Stands with a dress-up bash featuring Canyons.

With their debut album Keep Your Dreams scheduled for this November, Canyons are headed for big things. But before they do so, they're bringing their unique mix of everything from dusty soul to banging acid house to a crazy warehouse environment, where they'll fill the room with awesome music while people dressed as Elephantitis sufferers and other kinds of FREAKS soak it up and chug back bottles of Obikwa Fruity White.

Doesn't this sound marvellous? Here is something else that sounds pretty good ? a list of things you can expect to hear on Saturday night, other than wigs swishing and VB cans cracking. It's a playlist!

1. Tim Buckley ? 'Sweet Surrender'

Let's kick off the one night stand playlist with an explanation of the motivation behind said activity... This song tells all. Phase one ? setting a clear objective.

2. Batteaux ? 'Tell Her She's Lovely'

Phase two ? make her feel gooood, like she really is something special. You're building a foundation.

3. Donnie & Joe Emerson ? 'Good Time'

Phase three ? Let them know you know how to 'good time'. No funny business, no presumptions, just good old fashioned fun.

4. Chaka Khan ? 'Sweet Thing'

Phase four ? reveal your softer side. Like an onion, you're slowly shedding layers.

5. Jo Bisso ? 'Your Love'

Phase five ? it's time to get physical. Focusing on shape-busting and rug-cutting is a good way to get the blood pumping.

6. Tina Turner ? 'Whole Lotta Love'

Phase six ? time to shed another layer. Sure you're a nice guy with a soft side that knows how to have a good time, but you're not through the woods yet. Get sensual.

7. Iggy Pop ? 'Fall in Love With Me'

Phase seven ? Clearly lay out your intentions. This is when you shed the protective onion layer and wear your heart on your sleeve.

8. Jimi Hendrix ? 'Foxy Lady'

Phase eight - putting the hammer down. There's no time to mince your words; it's now or never.

9. Prince ? 'Erotic City'

Phase nine ? time to follow through with the night's objective. It's time to get down!

10. Cody Chestnutt ? 'Bitch I'm Broke'

After 12 hours of romance it's time to lay down the law and let the cat out of the bag. All the layers of the onion have been shed and there's nothing left ? you disappear in a puff of smoke.
