Helena Bonham-Carter Is Marc Jacobs' New Muse
Hat is a bit weird, but the shoes appear to be matching.
I'm so undecided about Helena Bonham-Carter. She apparently only chooses film roles where the characters are mentally unstable and have excessively voluminous hair, but then manages to give an incredibly convincing performance as the well-groomed Queen Mother. She makes fashion choices that are just plain unforgivable (like starting a DIY bloomer service called Pantaloonies) then she just does things that are just plain awesome —like wearing mismatched shoes to the Golden Globes.
Marc Jacobs, on the other hand, has no such reservations about the kooky actress. Bonham-Carter has been chosen to front the campaign for his Fall 2011 collection, following in the footsteps of celebrities of a slightly different mould, such as Dakota Fanning (below) and Victoria Beckham. And though Helena is not someone who you would expect to be able to sell you a full-length sequined dress and a patent beret-helmet while posing in a way that makes her legs look shorter than her face, she really does seem the perfect choice for Marc Jacobs' bold clothing and Juergen Teller's lo-fi photography.
Tobey Maguire's appearance in the Prada's menswear campaign can not be as easily justified. Is that a rash?
