New York City-based producer Daniel Martin-McCormick is known by many as the frontman of dancey post-punk duo Mi-Ami, and for his solo side project Sex Worker. But it's his new moniker - Ital - that has the dance world in raptures. When Martin-McCormick gets his rave on as Ital, the accelerating synth-lines, rippling bass and clashing beats are hard to listen to without wanting to dance even when you're not under the influence of drugs, and it's no wonder he's now at the forefront of the US indie underground (including being signed to Amanda Brown's 100% Silk label).
This month Ital is playing a string of shows across Australia and New Zealand for the 100% Silk tour. He'll play Auckland's Whammy Bar on Friday January 20 with Golden Axe, Spring Break and Forest Spirits, Perth's The Bakery on Thursday January 26 with Oscar and Martin and Guerre, and Melbourne's Phoenix Public House on Friday 27 January with My Disco side project Kangaroo Skull, Forces and NO ZU. If you're in Melbourne you can also catch him taking over the turntables at The Buffalo Club on Wednesday 25 January for a special DJ set with Love Tempo DJs and Kovacular Spectacular.
