Julia Restoin Roitfeld's Lingerie Line

Julia Restoin Roitfeld continues to add new titles to her ever-expanding mantel. The daughter of long-time French Vogue Editor, Carine Roitfeld, JRR is much more than just a celebrity daughter. Art Director, model, mum-to-be and now designer are just a handful of the titles Restoin Roitfeld has earned for herself in her modest thirty-one years.
Designing lingerie is the doyenne's most recent foray, though, and not surprisingly after she told us in issue #94, "I am obsessed with lingerie, actually. I sometimes wear cotton, but they have to have lace. But I like lingerie, definitely - the playful kind." Restoin Roitfeld has teamed up with American lingerie label, Kiki de Montaparnasse to create a capsule collection of delicates. "I have long been a fan and client of Kiki," she says, "in fact I think I have the entire collection in my closet!" Coming from the self-professed lingerie lover herself, that's certainly saying something.
Restoin Roitfeld's collection for the label combines modern sensuality with a retrospective take on femininity. Satin and lace feature heavily, as well as high-waisted knickers, bustiers, balcony bras and lacy robes fit for the boudoir. If anyone knows about lingerie, it's a Roitfeld. Let's face it, the combination of French seductiveness and fashion know-how are unbeatable in the design stakes, especially when it comes to intimates. Exactly how many Carine Roitfeld-directed fashion shoots have featured lashings of lingerie? Too many to count.
For her collection with Kiki de Montparnasse, JRR also models the line, despite being pregnant with her first child. Restoin Roitfeld and her partner Robert Konjic are expecting their first baby in May of next year.
The creative direction behind the shoot for JRR's lingerie line takes inspiration from Parisian sensuality circa 1940's. On what she was aiming to create in her capsule collection, Restoin Roitfeld lists "Femininity and [something] body enhancing. I appreciate lingerie that empowers women and celebrates the female form. The fit and quality is so important, I like materials that feel very soft against the skin."
Julia Restoin Roitfeld's collection for Kiki de Montparnasse will be available in their boutiques and online from December 14.
