karl lagerfeld previews new diffusion line
Whip your hair back and forth if you want to refashion yourself in the Kaiser's likeness.
Do you want to look like a 78-year-old German man? You should, if that man is Karl Lagerfeld. The fashion wizard has just released a preview for his lower-priced clothing line and it's really good. Called Karl, the leather-heavy label will launch exclusively online in January 2012. With a well-edited collection of 100 pieces priced from $95 to $450, Karl gives the 99% the opportunity to refashion themselves in the Kaiser's likeness.
The short preview video stars Anja Rubik and Sui He whipping their hair back and forth in a selection of very-Lagerfeld high-neck detachable collars, fingerless gloves and tuxedo jackets. "It's my today's taste and style and a reflection of how I think a great number of people would like to be dressed now," says Karl of the collection to WWD. Which is very true if a great number of people would like to be dressed as female versions of the designer himself (we know we do).
The collection will be available on 25 January 2012 via Net-A-Porter, because if anyone loves technology more than Kip from Napoleon Dynamite it's Karl Lagerfeld. The designer also revealed that he carries 20-30 iPads on him at all times, which he uses to create videos and draw pictures of himself and Steve Jobs.
Head to Net-A-Porter for a countdown to when the label becomes available.
