Kid Cudi, Shia Lebeouf are Maniacs
Professional ratbag and occasional actor Shia LaBeouf directs new KiD CuDi short film.
Kid Cudi has released a short film for Halloween based on a track off his album Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager. The film is directed by professional ratbag and occasional actor Shia LaBeouf, and (we hate to say) he has done a pretty nice job. The film tells the tale of French serial killers being followed by a camera crew, possibly a nod to classic (and hilarious) French mockumentary Man Bites Dog.
Both the song and the film feature rapper Cage, aka Chris Palko, who has worked with LaBeouf before. The pair are reported to have a biopic in the works based on Palko's upbringing and career, in which LaBeouf will star. "I was a basket case, with a head full of PCP," Palko says of his past. "My story's real as fuck, and I'm confident that we can capture that."
This isn't the first time LaBeouf has directed nor is it the first time Kid Cudi has acted. LaBeouf wrote and directed short film Let's Love Hate in 2004 and also collaborated with Cudi earlier this year for Marijuana, another short film which debuted at the Cannabis World Cup this year. (Yes, the Cannabis World Cup.) Cudi, credited by his birth name Scott Mescudi, also stars in the Mark Wahlberg?executive produced HBO series How to Make it in America, which is going into its second season.
Check out Maniac here, plus the Criterion trailer for Man Bites Dog ? highly recommended.
