kill pixie online print launch
Sydney street artist Mark Whalen meets the Internet.
If you're an art-loving night owl, you may have seen Mark Whalen (aka Kill Pixie) trawling the streets of Sydney with a can in his hand. Using the dreary brick walls of the inner city as his canvas, Whalen has legitimised street art by adding much more to the urban landscape than simple, tasteless graffiti. Easily recognisable and difficult to fault, the work of Kill Pixie has been widely celebrated in publications such as Modart, Juxtapoz, Artist Profile, Australian Art Collector, Arkitip and Monster Children.

When Kill Pixie translates his graffiti-based talent into studio works, the result is just as impressive. In his geometrically-structured works, Whalen explores the relationships between nature and humans through a variety of mediums, including paper in ink, acrylics, and water colours with resin. After successful exhibitions in Los Angeles, Rome, London, Berlin and, of course, Australia, the time has finally come for Whalen's work to be made available online.
Joseph Allen Shea's site specific exhibition project, Gallery A.S. is lending Kill Pixie a helping hand by making this happen. After displaying Whalen's One Moment Please exhibition of small works in October, the 3-colour offset lithograph 'Geometric Constructions' is available for purchase for a price that won't break the bank.
