Meet the Models — Kimberley Wainscoat

Apparently Perth is where the babes are at...

Kimberley Wainscoat was one of the models we met at the casting we held with Mark Vassallo and Yimmy Yayo. Ryan Kenny, one of our other Fashion Week contributors, said that the experience of shooting the girls reminded him of high school and I can empathise. Despite being a heterosexual female in my twenties, I 100%, without a doubt, approached the whole situation with all the finesse of a really heterosexual fifteen-year-old boy. Anyway, Kimberley was a babe, so you should get to know her...

Ingrid Kesa: How old are you?
Kimberley Wainscoat: 18.

What agency are you with?
Chadwick's.

How long have you been with Chadwicks for?
When I was 13 I started classes and then at 14 they signed me on.

So you’ve had lots of experience modeling?
Yeah, I’m from Perth so I just came over to Sydney on Friday. It’s my first trip away so I’m just trying it out for Fashion Week and stuff.

Have you walked at Australian Fashion Week before?
I have in Perth, but not in Sydney.

Is it different to Perth so far?
It’s crazy, it’s so much bigger and I’ve been having to catch public transport everywhere — the rain doesn’t help. I guess it’s a lot more competitive over here.

Do you have any friends here from modeling?
Yeah, there’s quite a few girls from Perth over here at the moment so it’s good. They’re showing me my way around and helping me out.

What’s a job that you’ve done lately that you’ve really enjoyed?
Just probably test shoots at the moment. I worked with Gavin O’Neill on a shoot and we work really well together, I love his photography.

How did your walk go?
I think it went alright. My shoes are new so I’m kind of adjusting but I think I did alright.

Do you get nervous?
Not most of the time. Before I go on, I get a buzz of adrenalin but that’s about it and then afterwards it’s just relief.
