Lanvin Lifts H&M's Game
Alber Elbaz brings a touch of class to the British chain.
Although the collection doesn't hit stores until November 23rd, and the complete range won't be unveiled till November 2nd, H&M has just released the first campaign image from their highly anticipated Lanvin collaboration. The photo is taken by David Sims and 8 models Hannelore Knuts, Jane Schmitt, Tati Collitar, and Natasha Poly in Alber Elbaz's sleek designs. Rather than taking Lanvin downmarket, Elbaz wants to give H&M a luxury feel - hence the embellished pearl necklaces, asymmetric sleeves and signature raw edges.
As an interesting side note, when we spoke to Acne's CEO Mikaeel Schiller for Issue 89 of Oyster, he told us that their collaboration was only confirmed when Elbaz announced it to the press. No papers were signed, and they had only briefly discussed the concept. "We had no choice but to make it happen," he told us.
