LFW FW13: Burberry
Plus a video of the show.
You can always count on Burberry to deliver an incredibly well-executed show. This year 1500 guests were seated in a custom-built venue which resembled a giant glasshouse in London's Hyde Park. A live performance by Tom Odell complete with a backing choir was a surprise finale to show, and was so powerful that it apparently bought certain members of the audience to tears (so that's why Anna Wintour wears the sunglasses).
For FW13 Christopher Bailey (who we interviewed for our Digital Issue) reinvented the classic trench once more. The label's signature garment was made 2013 with rubber panels and futuristic gold accents, or done in wet-look glossy calfskin.
Throughout the rest of the 'Trench Kisses' collection an animal instinct was present with lashings of leopard, cow and zebra, as well as laminated python print leather. A heart print brought in a girly element, sitting alongside thick metallic stripes in red and gold.
