Listen: 'Hippies Is Punks' by Wavves

A pop-punk anthem that will remind you of being a moody teen.

Nathan Williams may be busy with his new side-project Sweet Valley that he started with his brother — they recently announced a tour with Wu-Tang's GZA — but he hasn't forgotten about Wavves. The Californian surf-stoner band has just released a new song, 'Hippies Is Punks'. It's a pop punk infused dig at an ex-girlfriend (reminiscent of early Weezer crossed with Sum 41) that will make you want to write anarchy symbols in white-out marker on your pencil case.

We can expect a new Wavves album soon. Please excuse me while I wildly flail my fists around in the air with joy. The band posted on their Facebook, "still not even done with the record... Very close though. I mean done mixing/mastering." They've taken a completely DIY route with the new album — they wrote on Twitter, "Throughout the whole creative process there was no label involvement... 100% ours, no changes. The music business is so much different now and that shouldn't have to be a bad thing."

Stream 'Hippies Is Punks' below and download it from Adult Swim.
