Listen: Iggy Pop & Bethany Cosentino's 'True Blood' Song

Surf's up!

Last year, Nick Cave and Neko Case collaborated on a duet for True Blood, covering The Zombies' 'She's Not There', and now Iggy Pop and Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino have teamed up to record a song exclusively for the show. Clearly awesome. 'Let's Boot and Rally' is the name of both the track and the episode, which will air this Sunday on HBO. The song was co-written by James Combs and KCRW DJ/True Blood music supervisor Gary Calamar.

"We had a situation where we had an episode called 'Boot and Rally' but we really didn’t have a song that was True Blood-y enough to use," Gary wrote in a blog post on KCRW, who exclusively premiered the song. "Iggy Pop, or should I say Iggy’s people, had reached out to me saying he was a True Blood fan and if any opportunities come up, to please keep Iggy in mind... As I was listening to my favorite song this summer, 'The Only Place' by Best Coast, I thought maybe Bethany might like to join in the fun."

In a press release about the song, Iggy said, "I guess this makes me a singing vampire, does this mean I have a license to suck?" We certainly don't think the song sucks, though. Listen below and see for yourself:
