mac x gareth pugh: first images
High-fashion armour for the masses.
In 2007, Gareth Pugh admitted that he was yet to sell a single dress. At the time Pugh's brilliant costume-like design aesthetic had regulated his collections to runway-only, unable to be purchased in stores, though even now they're perhaps more suitable for displaying as art or wearing as accidental Halloween costumes than for everyday wear.
And it'll still be those people with a relatively bold approach to self-styling who look best in Pugh's upcoming collaboration with M.A.C Cosmetics, if these first images are anything to go by. M.A.C and Pugh have already been working together for years, and the collaboration is just as dark, luxe and futuristic as you would hope to expect from such a pairing.

If you're still just a goth kid at heart then put down the Manic Panic and scan your heavily-lined eyes over these glossy purple lipsticks, angular eyelashes and silver nail varnishes ? which, starting at $15, are a far more realistic way to associate yourself with Pugh's architectural genius than those (justifiably) expensive runway pieces.
The collection will be available in North America starting November 23, and internationally in December. We can't imagine Gareth Pugh going down the H&M road any time soon, so if you're looking for something affordable to wear with your new metallic purple lipstick then consider these pieces inspired by sartorial (and fictional) rebel Lisbeth Salander.
