Marc Jacobs Resort 2013 Lookbook

Inspired by Cindy Sherman.

Marc Jacobs' Resort 2013 collection is so amazing that I want to write 'ah-mazing'. Inspired by a series of clown photos by Cindy Sherman, the collection is cool without taking itself too seriously. There's a sense of humour in either exaggerated or shrunken proportions. The dizzying colours and clashing prints are more hashtag chic than circus freak.

Marc seems to have this awesome-awkward thing down. We saw it with the Fall collection earlier this year, when oversized fur hats, Pilgrim boots and shin-skimming lengths were sent down the NYFW runway. Resort picks up on this, with puff-ball shapes and silhouettes that seem to be purposefully unflattering (but despite this we really want to wear them anyway). There is also a strong 70s vibe, with patchwork prints, folky florals, maxi dresses with keyhole cut-outs and halter necks, and chunky platform shoes.
