Marc Jacobs' SS12 Collection Stolen
From a train in France.
It sounds like the opening of a riveting piece of crime fiction, but Marc Jacobs' entire SS12 collection has been stolen from a train in France. How this happens, we do not know. Due to the theft, Marc Jacobs had to cancel their press day on Wednesday, announcing in a release: "Dear all, the Marc Jacobs PR team is sorry to inform you that our press day tomorrow in the Marc Jacobs store is cancelled, due to the theft of the Spring/Summer 2012 collections during its transfer from Paris." Fail!
There were 46 looks in the collection, meaning there were probably thrice this number of individual pieces. What's more, because the pieces were for showings, they were one-offs. So not only is the culprit unable to sell the goods, they also can't really wear them out of the house. Double fail!
Someone better call the fashion police, amirite?! (Sorry).
