Michael Cera, Kieran Culkin & Emily Barclay Come To Opera House
Please excuse us while we punch the air with glee.
Michael Cera, Kieran Culkin and Emily Barclay will come to the Sydney Opera House stage this Autumn for play This Is Our Youth. Please excuse me while I punch the air with glee. Described by The Times as "funny, moving and beautifully written", the coming-of-age play is set in New York in the early eighties and follows a day in the life of three upper middle class but tuned in kids. Written by Kenneth Longergan, This Is Our Youth has attracted many big name actors ? Hayden Christensen, Matt Damon, Jake Gyllenhaal and Anna Paquin among them ? to play its protagonists in both New York and London since its highly-acclaimed world premiere in 1996. But Seth Cohen Version 2.0 / ultimate dream nerd Cera, Igby Goes Down's deliciously deadpan Culkin and Australia's own Barclay, most known for playing Katrina in Suburban Mayhem, are sure to bring a certain kind of magic to the script, while Mark Brokaw will direct.
This Is Our Youth will run from March 14 ? 25 at 8pm on Tuesday ? Friday, 2pm and 8pm on Saturday, and 1pm and 6pm on Sunday. On Wednesday March 21, there will be an additional matinee performance at 2pm, followed by a post-show talk with the actors. Tickets are from $69 and go on sale on February 10 via the Sydney Opera House or by calling 9250 7777.
Now that I've managed to get out all the important information, let's just take a moment to appreciate the following Michael Cera related artifacts, shall we?
In which he is adorably awkward in Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis:
In which he gets a Guido makeover by the cast of Jersey Shore:
In which he photo bombs (the guy with the parrots, what?):

In which he is endearingly erratic and angry but also emotional ("you guys step on my heart every day!") whilst wearing a bath robe:
In which he is still majestic despite that thing which has appeared between his top lip and his nose:
