Model of the Moment: Krystal Glynn

We profile Aussie model Krystal Glynn ahead of New York Fashion Week.

Krystal Glynn is Australia's alt-girl model of the moment. Lincoln Ferguson discovered her last March at Bondi Beach, not sparing any time in signing her to his agency, The Agency models. By April, she had walked her first show for Friend of Mine at RAFW. Glynn was signed, in May, to New York's DNA Model Management (where you could bump into Dree Hemingway, Natalia Vodianova and Kristen McMenamy in the hallway ? no biggie), and is also represented by Viva London and Paris. In under a year and at the tender age of seventeen, Krystal has appeared in Oyster, Russh, Karen, Black, Madison, Grazia (five times), Cleo (twice), Cosmo (twice), as well as doing campaigns for the likes of Akira Isogawa, Zambesi, Country Road, General Pants, Michael Lo Sordo and more.

And then there's the runway shows? as well as RAFW, she's walked globally for Band of Outsiders, Helmut Lang, Marc Jacobs, Peter Som, Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti, Rebecca Taylor, Richard Chai, Theyskens' Theory and Tory Burch in the SS12 shows. And with New York Fashion Week starting in a matter of days, it's likely that the Penrith-raised teenager will soon be walking many more. Afterwards, she may even need a respite in the Byron Bay's rugged hinterland, where her brand new video for One Teaspon's AW12 collection is set:

"What can I say about Krystal? She's got that enigma that fashion is always looking for. She's got that mystery in her eyes, that's what I see," Ferguson tells Oyster. On her burgeoning career as one of Australia's best modeling exports, Lincoln says, "it's a funny one. It's kind of exciting but we're playing it by ear for when she's ready as a person... It's about us taking her in the right direction for longevity."
