'Musecology: Round 2' Performance Exhibition This Week

Live music amongst the mummies at Sydney Uni.

If you feel like scheduling a trip into your subconscious this week, this could be the thing for you. Musecology is an independent exhibition series of four site-specific performances taking place within historical locations around Sydney, run by writer and curator Jack Jeweller and Daniel Stricker of Siberia Records. In each of the exhibitions, the performers are invited to respond to a concept arising from that particular venue's history. 'Musecology: Mnemonic Museum' is the second in the series and will take place at Sydney Uni's Macleay Museum, which was built in 1887. The event will see artists perform live experimental scores to the 1960's cult classic The Eyes of Hell aka The Mask, shot in anaglyphic 3D (the old school 3D that requires red and blue lensed glasses). The performance will feature Naked on the Vague, Jamie Leonarder, formerly of Mu Meson performing with his new band Not Applicable, and DCM made up of Chris Ross, formerly of Wolfmother, and Daniel Stricker of Midnight Juggernauts. Other guests are soon to be announced.

'Muscology: Round 1' was held at the first PCYC at Woolloomooloo in the Boxing Ring and featured Kirin J. Calinan, Justice Yeldham, BAADDD and Forces:

'Musecology: Mnemonic Museum' will take place on Friday March 9 at 8:30pm at the Macleay Museum, University of Sydney (enter via Gosper Lane, off Science Rd). Tickets are $10 and available at the door.
