Neuw Denim Summer 2011

Neuw Denim's Summer 2011 collection is full of "vintage revised" details.

Par Lundqvist, creative director of Neuw Denim, isn't only a denim designer - he's a denim collector, and a pretty avid one at that. He owns approximately 3,000 pairs of jean pants, jackets and shirts - most of which were purchased at second-hand stores in his native country, Sweden. (Fun fact: Sweden is the world's highest per capita consumer of denim). Lundqvist's collection spans the past hundred years, but his favourite periods are the mid-1950s (think James Dean and the original rockabillies) and the late-1970s (the era of The Velvet Underground, Andy Warhol's Factory and drain pipes).

Unsurprisingly, Neuw Denim's collections have a vintage feel about them. In fact, Lundqvist has penned the term "vintage revision" to describe the process of re-cutting jeans to make the perfect fit and adding contemporary tweaks like darts at the ankle for a slight taper. Neuw Denim's Summer 2011 collection is full of "vintage revised" details. Faded slim fit jeans are paired with indigo button-ups and duster coats; lightweight chinos in mustard and burgundy perfectly complement striped tees and gingham shirts. The womens range 8 a number of high-waisted styles, lace bustiers and sheer blouses. Check out the mood video below and be sure to keep an eye on Neuw Denim's website - they're relaunching it soon.
