Nicki Minaj is a Barbie
A one-of-a-kind 'Minajesty Barbie' will only set you back $1000.
Considering her fans call themselves 'Barbies', it's a no-brainer that Nicki Minaj would have one made in her likeness. The catch is that when we say 'one', we really mean one - and it is being auctioned off for charity with a starting bid of US$1000. As reported by Fashionista, the one-of-a-kind Nicki Minaj Barbie will be up for grabs until 19 December, with all proceeds going to Project Angel Food, an organisation that provides food for those living with HIV and AIDS.
The smiling 'Minajesty Barbie' reflects the rapper's love of all things pink, with long pink hair, pink ankle boots and a dress that is mostly pink tulle. It even has the same tattoo the real Minaj has on her left arm. Mattel will also be releasing a Katy Perry Barbie for the same auction, and the collaboration follows on from previous one-of-a-kind celebrity Barbies: Rachel Zoe, Janet Jackson and Carol Channing.
Other celebrities who have seen themselves recreated in the plastic fantastic fashion include Beyonce and Jay-Z, Amy Winehouse, and the cast of Mad Men. The list of celebrity Barbies is surprisingly short, however, as Mattel seems to favour movie collaborations (such as Twilight) or movie stars from days gone by (such as Audrey Hepburn and James Dean). As such, Oyster has come up with our own Barbie wish list:
The male model has given new meaning to the term 'androgynous', even being voted in at #98 on FHM's top 100 list of the world's sexiest women. The Andrej Pejic Barbie comes with a couture Jean Paul Gaultier wardrobe and will no doubt help kids understand beauty outside of traditional male and female lines.
Kitted out in a red flannelette shirt and his trademark glasses, the Terry Richardson doll has a camera around its neck and two big thumbs up. Celebrity entourage not included.
Melissa McCarthy as Megan in Bridesmaids
Recovering from a fall off a cruise ship, the Megan Barbie Doll will provide hours of fun for the little girl that knows the value of a Labrador puppy or nine. The limited-edition doll comes with a full golfing wardrobe, neck pillow, and a bonus first aid kit for Fight Club Bridal Shower emergencies.
Anna Dello Russo
The "fashion maniac" and Editor-at-Large for Vogue Japan is famed for her passionate pursuit of fashion in all its forms. The Anna Dello Russo Barbie comes with two different couture hats, and a list of 10 Christmas Party Rules.
The Chloe Sevigny Barbie makes the perfect Christmas present for every little hipster boy and girl. Scissors and a sewing kit are included to encourage authentic DIY customisation.
