NYFW FW13: Karen Walker

Runway gallery and review of the 'New Rose' collection.

Karen Walker's NYFW show was pretty ruling. A soundtrack of The Damned and Siouxsie Sioux put the clothes into context, with the 'New Rose' collection taking cues from British style.

Before you start imagining Ginger Spice's Union Jack dress (a fine fashion moment), the FW13 offering was more of a subtle nod to Cool Britannia in which utility versed romance on the runway. Traditional floral prints were stenciled on and done in dripping paint, outerwear was oversized, hems were left raw, and khaki was the key colour — even soft angora sweaters appeared in military green.

Some of the new sunglass styles we laid eyes on last week in the campaign shot by Ari Seth Cohen also made their debut.
