NYFW Party: Jean Prouve by G-Star Raw for Vitra
A party in honour of French design, Swiss sustainability and raw denim.
Denim and furniture are two (obvious) staples in any normal life. Denim brand G-Star RAW threw an opening party shindig in the Jean Prouve by G-Star RAW for Vitra (phew!) pop-up shop to celebrate this. G-star's latest project - in conjunction with multi-talented Frenchman Jean Prouve's influential and acclaimed designs for furniture company Vitra - looks like a pretty good one: expanding the G-Star lifestyle into industrial design. The collaboration produced furniture that, as Shubhankar Ray (G-Star's Global Brand Director and dashing, long-haired figure in the blue blazer) explained, "...will wear and ease into the lives of its owners much like raw denim does." Bubbly was consumed, videos were watched and furniture was displayed with denim strategically interspersed between. Fashion and function in well designed furniture - definitely worthy of a party.
