Oyster #92: Emmanuelle Seigner
We talk to the actress about Jean-Luc Godard, husband Roman Polanski and the importance of laughter.
Emmanuelle Seigner plays many roles in her life: accomplished actress, skilled chanteuse, wife to Roman Polanski, mother of two. She is undoubtedly one of France's national treasures and has worked with visionaries such as Jean-Luc Godard, Julian Schnabel and, of course, Polanski himself. In fact, it was her provocative roles as Polanski's beautiful femme fatale in the films Frantic (where they met) and Bitter Moon that defined her early work. Since then, however, she has broken the mould with an impressive line-up of roles, as well as a successful singing career. In an extract from our interview in issue #92, she talks about her early career, working with her husband, and how important it is to laugh in the face of adversity.
