Oyster #97 Out Now!

For Oyster #97, we decided to slow down a little and take a breath. Feeling at once overwhelmed and uninspired by mile-a-minute fads in fashion and pop culture, we wanted to hone in on The Real Deal.

Our leading lady is the pint-sized, bona fide parcel of deadpan delight, Christina Ricci. From the moment she sang the Shoop Shoop Song in Mermaids at age ten, Christina has remained as totally 100% for real as she ever was. Styled by Contributing Editor Stevie Dance, shot by Gregory Harris in New York and interviewed by Jason Crombie, you will very likely fall in love with the actress all over again.

Also in the issue, photographer and director Nabil Elderkin shoots Erykah Badu at her Texas home; boy crazy Alexi Wasser grills Dave Franco on a whole lot of awkward topics; Tom Ford talks to us exclusively about doing things his way; actress Lake Bell chats about avoiding the celebrity circus and making out with James Spader (not that these points of discussion are at all related); and beloved Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne tells us how the band has sustained a lifetime music career all-the-while doing whatever the hell they want.

Our beauty section profiles seventies supermodel Pat Cleveland, who has maintained every ounce of spirit she had starting out as one of Diana Vreeland’s best darlings, Zoe Ghertner shoots Iekeliene Stange for a classic beauty story and we catalogue our all time favourite beauty products.

In fashion, Benny Horne shoots new face of Jil Sander Navy, the Gainsbourg-esque Sojourner Morrell; Zoe Ghertner captures the All-American beauty of Frankie Rayder; and Colin Dodgson photographs Myf Shepherd lounging around (quite literally).

#97 also features unpublished work from some of our favourite female photographers, including Tierney Gearon, Maya Villiger and Lina Scheynius, and interviews with both the formidable Venetia Scott in London and the legednary William Eggleston in Paris.

All that and more, in Oyster #97. Out now!
