Oyster Playlist: Straight Arrows
The band will play at Noisy Mountain in Melbourne next month.
Sydney-based band Straight Arrows do not play music for you. They play music AT you. Their reverb-laden sound is described as "fuzzed out punk garage" by their record label Rice Is Nice. Their unique approach to making music — which began with "Owen Penglis yelling about getting dumped and kicked out of bands into a four track cassette machine in his bedroom" — must be something, because they've sold out two international 7-inch releases and played alongside Thee Oh Sees.
Straight Arrows will play with Bitch Prefect (who we interviewed a few months ago), Ausmuteants and Raw Prawn at VICE/Sugar Mountain's joint venture, Noisey Mountain (which part of Melbourne Music Week). The show will go down on 19 November at a secret warehouse location in Melbourne (mysterious), and it's FREE. RSVP here.
To prep you for the show, Straight Arrows made us this playlist of songs that they're currently into.
1. 'I Want, Need, Love You' — Black Diamonds
2. Trampoline accident
3. 'I'm Gonna Find a Cave' — Banana Splits
4. Redd Kross live
