Blues for a dingy basement bar, soul for a spirit-filled gospel service, rock for a pub — The Rubens take all of this and leave you emotionally exhausted. But you won't find them in that bar or that pub anymore. In the last few months the Sydney-based band has gone from anonymous to eponymous, self-titling their first album (recorded in New York) and blowing audiences away at Splendour in the Grass. The next Aussie festival on their radar? Laneway!
