phoney gold

The first Vertu mobile phone has arrived in Australian and it gives a whole new meaning to the word excess. With an impressive $38,300 price tag, the phone was handcrafted in the UK, is made of 18ct-knurled red gold, a sapphire crystal screen and ceramic ear cushion.

The phone has a direct connection to the Vertu 24 hour Concierge service, which claims to do ‘whatever’ — whether you need to arrange a last minute party, a rare piece of artwork or a bottle of Chateau Mouton Rothschild ’45 — plus a Worldmate Travel feature, which allows users find the nearest available flight, no matter where they are or where they’re going.

Capable of accepting any SIM card, working across most of the globe and with a ‘Fortress Feature’ that allows users, in true Bond style, to back up phone data to an underground UK bunker at short notice, it makes our iPhones look pretty shabby.

Australia’s only Vertu phone is stocked at LK Jewellery.
