Previously Unpublished Herb Ritts Photographs

Of Naomi Campbell, Karl Lagerfeld, Johnny Depp, David Bowie & Cindy Crawford.

Late photographer Herb Ritts' career began with a flat tyre in the seventies. Stuck in a garage in the California desert, Ritts took a bunch of impromptu photos of yet-to-be-famous friend Richard Gere in front of an old Buick and the rest, as they say, is history. The Los Angeles native went on to shoot an endless array of famous faces from Diana Ross and George Clooney to Mikhail Gorbachev and the Dalai Lama. NOWNESS has recently revealed a collection of previously unpublished images that display Ritts' classical-inspired style which sees the likes of Cindy Crawford, Johnny Depp, Naomi Campbell and David Bowie rendered like Greek gods rather than mere mortals (if you can actually call them the latter). Check out the photos below:

Head over to NOWNESS to read a selection of quotes about Ritts from people who have worked with him including Anna Wintour, Cindy Crawford, Calvin Klein, and more, plus see additional images.
