Raf Simons to Leave Jil Sander

When one door closes another one opens...

Raf Simons is leaving Jil Sander! Which means that those Dior rumours are now in overdrive. Raf will present his last show for Jil Sander in Milan on Saturday. It's been reported that his replacement will be announced not long after. Rumour has it that Jil Sander herself will move back into the spotlight.

Whilst we will miss the minimalist magic that Raf has made his own for the Milan-based company we are excited about him potentially getting cray cray creative at Dior. And yes, we know LVMH (which owns Dior) has not made an official announcement yet, but it's impossible to believe that someone with Raf's talent does not have another position lined up. No doubt Bernard Arnault has already cracked open the champagne (a convenient drink of choice).

The only question that remains is will Raf be able to step up and give us a little showmanship at the end of each Dior show like his predecessor? Raf's a little more low key than Galliano, though, who will be a very tough act to follow in every sense.

The Dior announcement will almost certainly happen next week during Paris Fashion Week.

Update (Friday the 24th): Jil Sander is confirmed as the new Creative Director of her namesake and WWD reports that Raf's move to Dior is unlikely, as both parties could not come to an agreement. Obviously we got a little ahead of ourselves, but can you blame us? It could have been beautiful...
